On May 1, California Housing Partnership Corporation, in collaboration with Sacramento Housing Alliance, released the annual housing needs data assessment for Sacramento County.

“This report shows the relationship between the loss of state redevelopment and bond funding and a 47% increase in homelessness in Sacramento County,” said Matt Schwartz, CEO and President of the California Housing Partnership.
“As this report shows, too many people are struggling with high housing costs and homelessness is growing worse,” said Sacramento Mayor Darrell Steinberg. “I applaud the Sacramento Housing Alliance and the California Housing Partnership for its efforts to spotlight this critical issue. We must work together to find new sources of funding to build affordable housing and create more prosperous communities for all.”
“The housing crisis in Sacramento County continues to affect every aspect of our community health and stability,” said Darryl Rutherford, Executive Director of the Sacramento Housing Alliance. “Sacramento County most urgently needs appropriate, ongoing resources to build affordable housing, but we also need to close the policy loopholes (such as inadequate renter protections or housing voucher discrimination) that lead to greater displacement and homelessness in our community.”
